Say farewell to summer in style and head
along to the Capital to enjoy some of the festivals, pop-ups and outdoor
get-togethers held throughout London this September.
These upcoming events are popular with
visitors and locals and ticketed events sell out fast so if any of them take
your fancy make sure you book early to avoid disappointment.

Grillstock
5th
– 6th September, Walthamstow, tickets: £30 per day
This is going to be the biggest BBQ
event the UK has ever seen with the ‘King of the Grill’ competition teams being
bigger than any other BBQ competition. With dozens of teams taking part, seven
rounds in total and all trying their best to impress the judge – the one and
only Dr BBQ (aka Ray Lampe) –you could easily get the chance to sample a taste
of smoked BBQ heaven. With a music line up of indie rock, eclectic DJ and Deep
South beats including headliners Fun Loving Criminals and Razorlight,
entertainment acts including fire breathers, eating competitions and BBQ
masterclasses accompanied by festival bars serving fantastic beers and spirits,
Grillstock is set to be a smoking hot weekend.

Pup Aid
5th
September, Primrose Hill, free
This event is in its 6th year
and is an organised celebrity judged dig show to help raise awareness of the
UK’s cruel puppy farming trade. Set in Primrose Hill, one of The Royal Parks,
it promises to be a fun family day out with stalls, food, music, doggy shows
and the Scruffs heats judged by dog-loving celebs.

Greenwich Vintage fair on the
Gardens
5th
– 6th September, Greenwich, free
This event turns the Cutty Sark Gardens
into a pop-up vintage market. The market features clothes, collectibles,
records, home-ware and tasty foods from vintage lifestyles all over the world,
to give people an insight to how life used to be.

Klezmer in the Park: The
Festival
6th
September, Regents Park band Stand, free
This is an event organised by the Jewish
Music Institute (JMI) and provides a fun packed afternoon for all the family
with hourly music performances including a traditional Klezmer Band, a special
guest presenter and a kid’s zone with face painting, Klezmer crafting, family
fun and a Balloon band.

Jurassic 5
10th
September, The Forum, Tickets £37.25
Jurassic 5 are an American alternative
hip-hop group formed in 1993. The six piece crew recently
came back to the stage in 2013 after splitting up in 2007 and have continued to
release music becoming more popular with all ages and were recently in the
line-up for Glastonbury 2014. This is a strictly over 14s event and under 16s
need to be accompanied by an adult.

On Blackheath
12th
– 13th September, Blackheath, Tickets: day and weekend ranging from
£54.50 to £89.00
This is the 2nd year of this
event and it is a celebration of music, food and arts accompanied by activities
and entertainment for families and visitors of all ages. The event hosts music
stages with acts including Elbow and Madness, a food village which will be home
to a Chefs Club Banquet where diners will enjoy a 2 course feast cooked by some
of London’s celebrity chefs including Natasha Corrett, Gennaro Contaldo and
Helmsley and Helmsley and workshops for kids of all ages including an Urban
Arts experience and Circus skills.

Run to the Beat: London’s only
music 10k

This is a running event like no other
with a challenging run combined with an energetic atmosphere. All runners will
receive sets from some of the World’s best DJ’s such as Marvin Humes, Danny
Howard and Jameela Jamal. They will also receive a running top wear before
during and after the event, an awesome running 10k running route around
Wembley, finishing medal and an epic after party invite.

David Blandy’s Hercules: First
Cut Exhibition.
Ongoing until
19th September, Bloomberg Space, Shoreditch, free
This exhibition is an installation of
revolving imagery on HD spinning screens exploring the history and architecture
of the City of London. Accompanied by a narrated verse, images such as ancient
sites, shipping containers, car production lots and a London skyline at night
are framed by one word headlines like: Civilisation, Humanity, Knowledge,
Economics and Mythos. Blandy suggests the resilience, adaptation and
industriousness of London is what keeps the Capital blooming.
If visiting this exhibition you may wish

building that has undergone a £15 million upgrade and is located a 2 minute
walk away from this exhibition at the Bloomberg SPACE.

This event is London’s largest annual
festival of architecture and design and 700 buildings, walks, talks and tours
open their doors for free to the public to allow them access to places and
building otherwise inaccessible to them enabling them to become more
knowledgeable, engage in dialogue and make informed judgement in architecture.
There is an 80 page guide book to buy which is an essential companion in
planning your weekend of exploration and provides information on which places
need to be booked in advance so you don’t miss the opportunity to see inside.

The Candlelight Club
18th
– 20th September, Secret location, tickets £25.00
The candlelight club is a pop up 1920s
cocktail bar completely lit by candles in a secret location in London. Each
party has a unique cocktail menu and theme with live 1920’s jazz bands and
vintage DJing. The dress code includes 1920’s flappers, gangsters and molls,
degenerate aristos, decadent aesthetes and corrupt politicians. Guests who buy
tickets will receive an email 2 days before the event disclosing the secret
location and password for entry.
