What outrageous things can you do in London?

There are so many sites in London, such as Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and the London Eye. But what about if you want to do a lot more, or something a little different? Here are a few crazy things you might want to get up to in London this year!

1) Richmond Park

Richmond Park is of all the Royal Parks, and it is known as the biggest park in London. Why would going to a park be so different? Well, you’ll find lots of wildlife in this park, such as hordes of deer running wild. You’ll also see lots of professional runners and pro cyclists in training. You may have avoided this park in the past because not even the London Underground goes that far. But it is so worth it! You’ll see beautiful hills and huge oak trees, there’s one part of the park which you’ll absolutely love, where you can see all the way back to St Paul’s.

 2) Speakers’ Corner, Hyde Park

When walking through or around Hyde Park you have probably seen lots of signs to this part of London, but not really known what they were about. Hyde Park is right next to Marble Arch as well as Kensington Palace, the official home of Prince William. Speakers’ Corner is in Hyde Park and is a place where people from all around the world gather to speak about whatever they like. So this could be anything to do with race, religion, politics….  nothing’s off limits. The best day to visit this park of London? Sunday afternoons draw the liveliest crowds.

3) Canal Boats in Maida Vale

If you find yourself in northwest London, why not experience London in style and get on a canal boat. Start at Little Venice and then you can sail past the London Zoo as well as Regent’s Park. Then, you will reach Camden Lock. What’s great about this? Well, you get to experience London in a way you haven’t seen before. Usually, people get on the underground and fail to see the beauty that London presents. There is so much to see when we look from the water. You can also escape the hustle and bustle of London life when you get on the canal. It really is a magical way to experience the capital city of England.

4) The Florence Nightingale Museum

You may think that other museums trump this one. The British Museum, for example, or the Tate museum, are some of the most famous in London. However, the Florence Nightingale Museum is a small and info-packed museum which lives within a Victorian promenade of Big Ben. Florence Nightingale is of course a heroin and this museum celebrates her life. Why is this so great? Well, not many people know about this museum so you can imagine how great it is to go and explore such a place.

5) Greenwich Market

You may have heard of this area of London before and it is quite famous, especially with the locals. Once you’ve been to Covent Garden, Portobello Road and Notting Hill, why not travel east across the city to Greenwich. Head to Greenwich Observatory while you’re there! This market is great because you can find foods from all around the world. It is also great for finding gifts for a loved one. Why not combine this trip with one of London budget hotels and make it a weekend getaway to remember? Places like the Park Grand London Paddington are ideal, as you can set up base in a central location and then go further afield using the underground to explore this wonderful city with ease!

6) Get in a Mini Cooper

You all know about the black cabs of London and of course there is always the London Underground to head to if you want to get around the city, but did you know there is a much more fun way to see London, in a Mini Cooper? You can hire cars from any of the car hire places located around the city and what a fantastic way to get around with friends!

7) Afternoon Tea at The Cranley
For something a little quieter than heading around London in a Mini Cooper, why not head to the very traditional Cramley afternoon tea? Yes, you could always go to the Ritz or the Savoy but you’ll find the very best cucumber sandwiches, clotted cream, and varieties of tea here at The Cranley.  This is perfect for an upmarket hen do, a celebration with a romantic partner or for treating your mum and dad! Whatever you have in mind, you can’t go to London without a trip for some afternoon tea.

8) A jazz club

Into your music? Then why not visit one of  the narrow streets of Soho, and go to Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. This club has hosted many jazz superstars over the years and it still remains as ctraditionally jazz in its style and atmosphere as ever before. You’ll find lots of funky animal prints and a great bar for enjoying some drinks while soaking up the jazz.

9) Duck Tours

Ever heard of duck tours? This is a car come boat and is a great way to surprise the kids. Get them on board and explain to them you’re taking a journey around London on the road. Imagine their surprise when the car hits the water and turns into a boat! You can then see the rest of London by water, and boy, what a great view it is! Duck tours have been popular for many years now and you can book tickets up in advance on their website.
